Fishing Rules 2011 Season

Species

Season

Salmon and Sea Trout:

1st of Feb - 31st of Oct

Brown Trout :

15th of Mar - 6th of Oct

   Fishing On   Sunday'sfor brown trout only  with 4lb line  no spinning

Not allowed:

·         Fishing with set lines in any form.

         NO Worm to be used this is not a club rule but is written in the lease.

·         Bait fishing for Salmon/Sea Trout before 1st June and after 26th August.

·         Bait / Fly fishing for Brown Trout with a Leader of more than 4lb breaking strength  

·         The use of live vertebrates as baits, sweetcorn, powerbaits, prawn, shrimp or worm as baits at anytime, groundbaiting and feeders, bait digging on or near the river bank and the use of Gaffs, Tailers or Knotted Landing Nets. Lead core or fast sinking line, multi-treble hooked lures or more than one baited hook. All fish hooked behind the gill line to be returned to the water immediately.

·         Fishing at one point when others are waiting to fish. Move 1m downstream between each cast .

·         Dogs with anglers, fires to be lit.

·         The removal of natural stone from the river banks or bed and the making of croys or other structures.

·           To use Stainless steel hooks.  

All Anglers must:

·         (Day permits only) Limited to take only 1 Salmon, 2 Sea Trout and 2 Brown Trout per permit.

·         Produce a valid permit when asked by a Committee Member or an authorised bailiff on demand.

·         (Season Permits Only) May not take more than 5-10 Salmon, 5-10 Sea Trout per season, 10 Brown Trout then Catch & Release only.

·         Return all Sea Trout under 12" (300mm) and over (5lb) 24" (610mm), All Salmon under 12" (300mm) and over (15lb) 33" (840mm) and Brown Trout under 9" (225mm)have to be returned to the water immediately.

·         Return all Salmon Parr, Smolts, Kelts, Red or Unclean fish have to be returned to the water immediately.

·         Record all catches on the catch return section of your permit immediately report catches to Club Treasurer. Failure to do so will result in a permit withdrawal for this season and next. Season permit holders must make their catch return by the due date, 14th November, all returned fish with their details and nil returns are required. Offenders will be unable to buy a permit the following year or will have it withdrawn if purchased.

·         Fish according to law, incorporating The Forth District Salmon Fishery's Board regulations. It is illegal to sell or offer for sale any rod caught salmon. A conviction under the Salmon Acts will mean an automatic withdrawal of any current permit with a minimum ban of 5 seasons.

Any abuse to members or bailiffs will result in a permit withdrawal on-the-spot.

Please be aware that river banks are hazardous. Stay clear of undercut banks.

Please consider others and observe THE ANGLERS CODE OF CONDUCT and THE FORTH DISTRICT SALMON FISHERY BOARD CODE OF PRACTICE.

·         Always fish upstream of other fishing anglers

·         Always wait your turn to fish a pool from its head

·         Always remove your old line, cans, bottles and all litter from the river bank

·         Always stay about 15m from the next angler and 30m when they or you are using a fly

·         Always respect the property, access and privacy of people who live on or by the river

·         Always carry a hook disgorger with you

It is recommended that all children under the age of 14 are supervised at all times. All members and third parties who are Granted permission to fish by the Club will do so at their own responsibility for loss, damage or injury.

Please help to conserve spring salmon stocks (Feb, Mar, Apr & May) by returning unharmed all fish, use barbless hooks during catch and release periods. Please return all coloured salmon and all sea trout after 26th August. Please return all hen fish in October.

 

Any ticket holder infringing any of the Rules and Regulations or who may be or has been convicted of illegal fishing and fails to disclose the matter or any offence under the Acts relative to Salmon or Trout fishing shall forfeit his/her permit with all the privileges carried by it. Suspension or forfeiture of an angler’s permit may result if an angler acts in an unreasonable, aggressive or inappropriate way to authorised Bailiffs, Watchers or Committee members or other anglers or as a result of his/her actions or demeanour brings the Club into disrepute. 

Such forfeiture or suspension shall be subject to a Committee inquiry and instructed by a letter under the hand of the Secretary of the Club directed to the permit holder at the address stated on his/her permit application.
